 THE A[2]-TEAM & IRISH NATIONALISM
To what extent did the aims & methods of Irish nationalism change
during the years 1820-1921?

The A-Team is helping Year 13 students at Ashfield School, Kirkby-in-Ashfield to write their coursework essay, part of an A2 History course.

A five-lesson study unit uses episodes of the A-Team to encourage students to plan and compose effective essays.

It pays particular attention to change and continuity, paragraph structure, coherency, and introductions and conclusions.

The coursework essay is the culmination of an engaging and imaginative thirty-six-lesson study unit on the history of Ireland between 1801-1921, which is outlined on the right.

Both units have been devised by the students' teacher, Gary Hillyard.

Ireland 1801-1921

The main study unit itself addresses eleven topics, raising thirty-one key questions in thirty-six lessons.
It includes a wide range of sources and different approaches to learning.
